Three Jays among JC class

Three Jamestown High School players are among the first members of the 2013 Jimmie football recruiting list.

Jamestown College Shawn Frank announced the signing of former Blue Jays Anthony Cook, Sean Lindberg and Jacob Wolf. Other recent signees include Jake Amundson of Starbuck, Minn., Paden Bauder of Gillette, Wyo., Bismarck Century’s Michael Grossman, Chris LaCroix of Corona, Calif., Tyler Schwartz of Fontana, Calif. and Strasburg’s John Stabler.

Four junior college transfers have also signed and are already on campus in Gerald Bester of Racine, Wis., Jourdon Perkins of San Bernardino, Calif., Twin Cities native Emanuell Williams and Wes Worthen of Columbus, Ga.

“The young men who have committed to Jamestown College, at this point, fit our profile as quality individuals who have a passion for playing and understand what it takes to be a student-athlete on our campus,” Frank says. “There are many leaders, in this early signee group, which we feel will be important as they develop into young men.”

Cook, a 5-foot-7, 180-pound running back, ran for 868 yards and two TDs last season. He is the son of Richard Cook. He plans to major in English.

“Anthony does a nice job finishing his run and runs with a nice pad level. His passion is contagious, which is a big part of playing this game,” Frank said.

Lindberg, a 5-8, 165-pound receiver, had 12 catches for 400 yards and three scores. He is the son of Alan and Genny Lindberg.

“His ability to compete snap to snap, run solid routes and make plays is something we admired when we watched him play for Jamestown High School,” Frank said.

Wolf, a 6-foot, 190-pounder, will play linebacker., He is the son of Ritchie and Claudia Wolf.

“Jake is another example of players who play hard and love to compete,” Frank said.

Stabler, a 6-foot, 220-pound offensive lineman, had 81 tackles for Strasburg-Zeeland. He is the son of Brad and Brenda Stabler.

“He has the frame to add nice weight and we feel that he has the chance to develop into a good player,” Frank said.

Schwartz is the lone quarterback in the first class. The son of Kenny and Regina Schwartz, the Californian threw for 700 yards and 10 TDs as a senior.

Grossman, a 6-1, 235-pound defensive end, was a four-year letterwinner for the Patriots. He is the son of Mike and Julie Dolbec and Bryan Grossman.

LaCroix, another Californian, is a 6-3, 250-pound O-lineman. He earned second-team all-conference honors. He is the son of Kevin and Becky LaCroix.

Amundson is a 5-10, 160-pound receiver out of Minnesota. He had 669 yards receiving and nine scores at Minnewaska Area High School. He was the team’s offensive MVP and captain. He is the son of Kurt and Lara Amundson.

Bauder, another big O-Line recruit from Gillette, Wyo., the 6-3, 300-pounder was a two-time all-conference player. He is the son of Troy and Trena Bauder.

Of the 14 players signed, nine are from the Upper Midwest.

Frank is also high on JUCO signees Bester, Perkins, Williams and Worthen.

“These four players played at a high level in junior college,” Frank said. “They all have fit in well, and we are anxious to see them make the transition from offseason training to on-the-field ability.”
