Athletes of the week announced

The Jamestown Optimist Club has announced its athletes of the week. Jamestown junior gymnast Abbie Conlon and swimmer/diver Grant Curtis won the high school awards, while JC track and field’s Josie Bopp and teammate Michael Findlay won the college honors.

Jamestown junior gymnast Abbie Conlon and swimmer/diver Grant Curtis won the high school awards, while JC track and field’s Josie Bopp and teammate Michael Findlay won the college honors.

Conlon took fifth on the beam, eighth on the bars and 10th in the all-around for a career-best all-around score of 33.85.

Curtis qualified for the state meet in the 100 back and also completed a six-dive list in a double dual against Moorhead, Minn., and Fargo South.

Bopp had season best marks of 8 feet, 2.5 inches in the pole vault, a long jump of 16-7 and a 32-5 in the triple jump at the Bison Indoor meet on Saturday.

Findlay has a personal best mark of 52-3.75 in the weight throw at the Bison Indoor. He also placed 13th in the shot put with a 45-3.75.
