Fire calls for week of Feb. 16, 2013

Jamestown Fire Department calls Feb. 8-14:

Feb. 8: 12:22 p.m., ready squad responded to 706 13th St. SE, multi-family dwelling, to investigate smoke alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire; none was found. Cause: faulty smoke detector. Advised occupant to change the battery or replace smoke detector. Time out: 30 minutes.

Feb. 10: 4:38 a.m., fire department responded to 410 24th St. SW, to a report of a power pole on fire. Firefighters secured the area and requested Otter Tail Power Company. Cause: unknown. No firefighter injuries. Time out: one hour.

Feb. 10: 11:59 a.m., fire department heavy rescue squad responded to Interstate 94 mile marker No. 268, to a report of person/s trapped in vehicle. No extraction was needed. Tow truck rolled vehicle over and occupants were able to exit the vehicle. Cause: slippery road conditions. No firefighter injuries. Time out: one hour.

Feb. 10: 3:39 p.m., fire department responded to 1411 17th St. SW, Russ Davis Wholesale, to a report of a semi on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Cause: undetermined. No firefighter injuries. Time out: two hours.

Feb. 11: 1:10 p.m., ready squad responded 222 First Ave. S, multi-family dwelling, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire; none was found. Cause: water in detector head. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 20 minutes.

Feb. 12: 8:43 p.m., ready squad responded to 1218 Sixth Ave. NE, multi-family dwelling, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire; none was found. Cause: heat from a loose dryer vent. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 30 minutes.

Feb. 13: 11:15 a.m., ready squad responded to 11th Avenue Southeast, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked the area and were unable to find anything, due to the fact of lack of information. Time out: 20 minutes.
