The 6-team field is set for the Association of Independent Institutions women’s basketball tournament, which begins Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Seeding has not been finalized for the tournament, which continues Feb. 23 and concludes with the championship game Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. The No. 1 seed will go to the winner of Sunday’s game in Mayville between 18th-ranked Jamestown College and the Comets (20-3), ranked 15th in the latest NAIA top 25.
The rest of the field includes Valley City State (21-6), Rochester (12-13), Mich., Ashford (12-16), Iowa and Johnson & Wales (12-16), Colo.
The 23-5 Jimmies are 2-3 against the field, splitting against the Comets and Vikings. They lost to Johnson & Wales 78-76 in Denver last month.
The two teams that advance to the championship game qualify for the NAIA national tournament, which begins March 6 in Sioux City, Iowa.
