The Jamestown College men’s basketball team is the No. 5 seed for the Association of Independent Institutions basketball tournament.

The Jimmies (13-17) play the final game on Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center against fourth-seeded Ashford University (19-11) of Iowa at 7:30 p.m. It’s the fourth and final game of the day. Play begins at 1 p.m. with the third-seeded Valley City State women’s team taking on sixth-seeded Rochester College (12-13) of Michigan.

The second game Friday features fourth-seeded Johnson & Wales (14-16) of Colo., taking on fifth-seeded Ashford (13-16).

The 18th-ranked Jamestown College women are the No. 1 seed in the six-team women’s field. The Jimmies (24-5) are 14-3 since New Year’s. They will play Saturday at 3 p.m. against the Johnson & Wales/Ashford winner with a spot in the national tournament at stake.

Mayville State, ranked 15th in NAIA Division II, is the No. 2 seed on the women’s side.

Rochester (19-3) of Michigan is the top seed on the men’s side. Valley City State, ranked 20th nationally, is the No. 2 seed and likely has a date with Dakota State (19-9) looming. The Trojans play sixth-seeded Northern New Mexico (10-17) Friday at 5:30.

The two teams that advance to the championship games advance to nationals. The title games will be played Sunday at 2 and 4:30 p.m.

Cost for a tournament pass in reserved seating is $25. Daily admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and $5 for students.
