Jaws compete in Mandan meet

The Jamestown Jaws Swim Team qualified eight more athletes for the state meet during the Mary Feist Invitational over the weekend at the Mandan Aquatics Center.

The Jamestown Jaws Swim Team qualified eight more athletes for the state meet during the Mary Feist Invitational over the weekend at the Mandan Aquatics Center.

The team now has 16 members qualified for the state meet which will be held in Grand Forks.

The new state qualifiers are Jessica Ibes (200 free, 50 fly), Tia McMillan (25 back, 50 free, 25 free, 50 back, 50 breaststroke, 25 fly), Ryder Koch (25 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 50 free), Taylor Bradley (100 breaststroke), Kennedy Koch (50 free), Emily Burgess (50 back, 50 breaststroke), Malik Krahler (50 back) and Emily Bradley (50 breaststroke).

Ryder Koch notched a pair of first-place finishes during the meet in the 25 breaststroke and the 100 breaststroke. McMillan placed third in the 25 free, while Hannah Middaugh also picked up a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle.

Jamestown finished eighth in the eight-team invite with 82 points. The Jaws’ next meet is the Jamestown Winter Blast Swim Meet, which will be held at the JHS pool on Feb. 23-24.
