Jimmie football inks two recruits

Andrew Haugen of Garrison, N.D., and James Young III of Newberry, Mich., have signed with the Jamestown College football team.

Andrew Haugen of Garrison, N.D., and James Young III of Newberry, Mich., have signed with the Jamestown College football team.

Haugen, a 5-foot-8, 170-pound wide receiver, was team MVP with 1,110 career receiving yards and a 3-time all-conference selection. Haugen, the son of John and Lisa Haugen, is an A honor roll student. He plans to study history. His sister also attended JC.

“Summing up Andrew in one word: competitor,” said JC coach Shawn Frank. “He loves to play and showed the ability to make plays on the perimeter in the pass game.”

Young III, a 6-2, 215-pound linebacker, was a first-team all-conference member, UP all-state selection and team MVP with 225 career tackles.

“James display a very tenacious brand of football when he steps on the field,” Frank said. “He has great upside, and we are excited he has chosen Jamestown College as his new home.”

He is the son of James and Wendy Young. An honor roll student, he plans to major in biology.
