Lions, Clippers to meet for title

Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock and Strasburg-Zeeland will meet for the District 6 tournament title tonight in Napoleon. The top-seeded Lions held off Kidder County, while the Clippers edged by South Border in semifinal action on Monday night.

Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock and Strasburg-Zeeland will meet for the District 6 tournament title tonight in Napoleon.

The top-seeded Lions held off Kidder County, while the Clippers edged by South Border in semifinal action on Monday night.

The Lions trailed Kidder County 26-23 at halftime, but won the second half 31-14. Ryan Schneider led Linton-HMB in scoring with 17 points. Jonathon Purintun added 11 and Brooks Flyberg 10.

Cole Scherbenske was the leading scorer for the Pirates with 16 while Ben Steinolfson added 11.

Strasburg-Zeeland outscored South Border 30-17 in the second half to rally out of a 35-25 halftime deficit.

Five Clippers scored nine points or more with Brody Nieuwsma’s 16 leading the way.

Michael Jacobson turned in another stellar night for the Mustangs with a tournament-high 26 points. South Border meets Napoleon in a region-qualifier tonight. The other qualifier pits Kidder County against Central Prairie.
