The Jamestown College Knight Line Dance team captured two national championships at the WOW Factor Sports Inc. Nationals Dance Event in Minneapolis on Feb. 9.
The program is in just its second season under coach Kimberly Williams.
The Knight Line Dance Team captured top honors in the NAIA and NCAA Division III Pom Category and the NAIA and D-III Hip Hop categories. Williams gave her team the responsibility of crafting their hip hop routine. Senior Tiffany Armstrong and freshmen Karrie Puckett and Bryanna Simms-McDonald were credited as lead choreographers for the routine.
“I wanted each dancer to be engaged in the competition experience from both the competitor and choreographer standpoints,” said Williams, whose team boasts an 8-0-1 record this season in competitions.
A three-judge panel awarded scores based on a 100-point scale in technique/skills, choreography, team execution and overall impression.
“This is just the beginning of where I would like to take the Knight Line Dance Team,” Williams said. “We want our program to continue to grow, improve and develop into one of the most recognizable, respected, supportive and entertaining college dance programs in our state and region.”
Other team members include Andrea Brenno, Taylor Burns, Sheala DeMartini, Courtney Diestler, Theresa Heier, Suzanna Koll, Carlotta Rasmussen, Ashley Renner and Nicole Rixen.
