Update: Name released in fatal snowmobile crash

A 59-year-old Michigan, N.D., man died in a snowmobile crash Sunday, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.
Michael Duane Barney was driving an Arctic Cat snowmobile at 5:43 p.m. westbound on Horseshoe Lake in Nelson County when his snowmobile made contact with a slight grade next to Nelson County Road 35. The driver cleared the county road and came to rest on the west side of Horseshoe Lake. He sustained injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at Nelson County Hospital in McVille, N.D., the patrol said.
The man was not immediately identified pending notification of relatives.
The patrol is investigating the crash.
