JC students to perform recital

The Jamestown College Department of Music will present a student recital featuring Jacoby Holte, Poplar, Mont., and Sydney Johnson, Cambridge, Minn., at 4 p.m. Saturday in Voorhees Chapel. The recital is free and open to the public.

The Jamestown College Department of Music will present a student recital featuring Jacoby Holte, Poplar, Mont., and Sydney Johnson, Cambridge, Minn., at 4 p.m. Saturday in Voorhees Chapel. The recital is free and open to the public.

Holte will sing Schubert’s “Der Neugierige” and “Das Fischermaddchen,” “Hey, go, the Wind and the Rain,” and “Fear No More the Heat o’ the Sun,” with music by Roger Quilter and words by William Shakespeare, Scarlatti’s “Gia il sole dal Gange,” and Puccini’s “E l’uccellino.” He is a voice student of Dr. Richard Walentine and will be accompanied on piano by Walentine.

Holte is a sophomore majoring in music education and business administration. He is active in choir, Knights Society and theater. He is the son of Steven and Paula Holte.

Johnson will sing Brahms’ “O kuhler Wald,” and “Wir Wandelten,” Vaccai’s “Non giova il sospirar,” Rossini’s “Chi m’ascolta il canto usato,” and the musical theatre selections “I Know the Truth,” from “Aida,” “What Ever Happened to my Part,” from “Spamalot” and “Suddenly Seymour,” from “Little Shop of Horrors.” She is a voice student of Leanne Villareal and will be accompanied on piano by Walentine.

Johnson is a first-year student majoring in music education and vocal performance. She is active in theater, wind ensemble, choir and student senate. She is the daughter of Randy and Jill Johnson.
