Man killed in crash identified

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a North Dakota man who was killed in a snowmobile crash Sunday.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a North Dakota man who was killed in a snowmobile crash Sunday.

Michael Duane Barney, 59, Michigan, N.D., was driving an Arctic Cat snowmobile at 5:43 p.m. westbound on Horseshoe Lake in Nelson County when his snowmobile made contact with a slight grade next to Nelson County Road 35. He cleared the county road and came to rest on the west side of Horseshoe Lake. Barney sustained injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at Nelson County Hospital in McVille, N.D., the patrol said.

The patrol is investigating the crash.
