Jamestown Speech Team places third

The Jamestown Speech Team took third at the Western Dakota Association in Mandan. Emily Lauinger placed in three of her events: sixth in Extemporaneous Programmed Reading, seventh in Dramatic Interp and sixth in Humorous Dramatic Duo with partner Mikayla Patel. Kelsey Becker placed in both of her events, earning an eighth in Extemporaneous Speaking and third with her Speech to Persuade.

Cassie Reidburn placed in two of her events: fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking and third in Impromptu Speaking. Jessica Vandal placed in her two events as well: eighth in Humorous Interp and seventh in Storytelling. Libby Kruse finished sixth in Poetry and Hunter Carpenter placed in two of his events: fourth in Storytelling and fifth in Humorous Dramatic Duo with partner Brittney Carpenter. Brittany McIntyre placed fifth with her Entertain and third in Humorous Dramatic Duo with partner Jana Lynch. Lynch placed in three other events as well: fifth in Radio Broadcasting, fourth in Impromptu Speaking, and fifth in Serious Dramatic Duo with partner Morgan Baumgartner. Baumgartner also placed in three other events: eighth in Impromptu Speaking, fourth in Poetry and third in Serious Prose.

Cassie Ost earned The Effort Award for this meet and the season thus far.

There are two corrections in the results from Devils Lake released last week, according to coach Laura Weis: Jasmine Glasgow finished second in Radio Broadcasting, not sixth, and Ashlyn Weis was named Top Novice in Humorous Interpretation.

The team travels to St. Mary’s High School for its next meet on Saturday.
