Loboes cruise to District 5 crown

Tenth-ranked LaMoure-Litchville-Marion capped a dominating run through the District 5 tournament with a 66-32 victory over Ellendale in the championship game Wednesday night.

The Loboes did not allow the host Cardinals more than nine points in any quarter. They led 17-7 after one frame and never looked back.

Brady Thielges led all scorers with 17 points in the win. Anthony Olson (14) and Senior Athlete of the Year Jared Meiklejohn (11) were also in double figures. Drew Thielges added nine points and Nolan Alber seven.

Adam White had 15 of Ellendale’s 32 points.

Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier secured the No. 3 seed out of District 5 with a 53-46 win over Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal.

Logan Hanson scored 17 points and had seven rebounds for the Rebels. Tallen Berg contributed 14 and Noah Greer added eight as the Rebels outscored P-B-K 30-21 in the second half after trailing 25-23 at halftime.

Shawn Baker led the Rebels with 12 points. Kolten Sabinash followed with nine.

All four teams that played Wednesday night advance to the Region 3 tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center, which begins Monday at 3 p.m.
