Comedy
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a musical comedy production by Jamestown High School theater department, is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Friday, Feb. 28 through March 1, at the Arts Center. Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for Arts Center members and students and $7 for others.
The Russell Peterson Jazz Quartet, part of the Jamestown College Performing Arts Series, performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, at DeNault Auditorium in the Reiland Fine Arts Center on the campus of Jamestown College. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by calling 252-3467, ext. 5435, or by email at tickets@jc.edu.
The Jamestown High School band department concert is at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the high school auditorium. There is no admission charge.
Jamestown College student vocal recital, featuring Jacoby Holte, and Sydney Johnson, is at 4 p.m. Saturday in Voorhees Chapel. There is no admission charge.
Jamestown College faculty organ recital, featuring William Wojnar, is at 3 p.m. Sunday in Voorhees Chapel. There is no admission charge.
Jamestown Community Open Mic is at 7 p.m. every fourth Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church, 405 Second Ave. NE. All performers are welcome.
Special Events
A screening of “Strangers on a Train,” the Arts Center’s Classic Movie Night, is at 7 p.m. today. There is no admission charge.
“An Evening in Morocco,” the annual Arts Center gala, begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Quality Inn & Suites. The event features a social hour, silent auction, dinner, live auction and live music. Tickets are $75 and be reserved by calling the Arts Center at 251-2496.
Around Town
Wood carving with a local wood carving group is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Arts Center’s Hansen Studio. There is no charge. Call Andy Kudrna at 320-5075 with questions.
A photography interest group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Sunday of the month at the Hansen Arts Studio. There is no charge.
Public skating is from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Feb. 24 at Wilson Arena. The cost for children is $2, adults $3 and rentals $2. For more information on special packages, call Jamestown Parks and Recreation at 252-3982 or Wilson Arena at 252-3939.
Outdoor ice skating at Meidinger, McElroy, Leapadlt and Nickeus parks is from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission charge but skaters must bring their own skates.
Sledding hill at the Bunker is available from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission charge.
Open swimming is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Jamestown High School Pool. There is no admission charge. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

National Buffalo Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and by appointment only on Sunday. Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $10 for a family and $1 for children ages 6 to 18.
Alfred Dickey Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. To access the Story Line, call 252-7464. The library is located at 105 Third St. SE.
Stutsman County Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is located at 910 Fifth St. SE.

The Barnes County Historical Museum, 315 Central Ave. N, Valley City, is open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a freewill donation.
The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Historic Site near Cooperstown is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center near Pingree is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The refuge trail system is open daily sunrise to sunset.
Art
“Literacy Without Borders,” an photography exhibit by Pam Rettig, is at the Arts Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. There is no admission charge.
The Medina Quilters Fellowship’s art is on display at Unison Bank through February.
Classes
Intro to Photography — Level 2 is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hansen Arts Studio. Intro to Photography — Level 1 or equal experience is required. Cost is $40 for Arts Center members and $50 for others. For more information or to register call the Arts Center at 251-2496.
Saturday Showtime, for children in grades 1 through 6, is from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month at the Arts Center. Cost is $5 for Arts Center members and $7 for others.
An Artful Happy Hour starts around 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Hansen Arts Studio. There is no admission cost. Participants are welcome to bring a beverage of choice and complete art projects.
