Blue Jay boys drop state-tournament opener; girls leading

Grand Forks Red River defeated Jamestown 6-0 in quarterfinal play at the state boys hockey tournament in Jamestown.

Grand Forks Red River defeated Jamestown 6-0 in quarterfinal play at the state boys hockey tournament in Jamestown.

The Roughriders, the top seed out of he East Region, scored three first-period goals.

Jamestown, which fell to 13-12, plays either Fargo Davies or Minot in loser-out play tomorrow at Engelstad Arena.

Meanwhile, the JHS girls hockey team leads Fargo South-Davies 2-0 midway through the second period.

Davies beat the Blue Jays in both meetings during the season.
