Game and Fish recognizes volunteers

Volunteer instructors for North Dakota’s hunter education program were recognized Feb. 9 by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department for their contributions of teaching students the importance of hunter safety and ethics.
Instructor of the year and years of service awards were presented at the annual hunter education workshop and awards banquet held in Bismarck.
Joe Lautenschlager of Berthold and Rod Hubbard from Fargo were named instructors of the year.
Honored for 40 years of service was Lorne Sterner of Casselton.
LaMoure’s Larry Kaul and Barry Townsend were recognized for 35 years of service along with Michael Porter of Bottineau; Thomas Reiten of Grand Forks; Louis Siemieniewski of Lidgerwood and Hatton’s Mark Sletten.
Presented with 25-year service awards were Betty Gunderson of Kulm and Spiritwood’s Charles Meikle.
Honored for 20 years of service were Curt Beattie of Hannaford; Mark Berg of Nortonville; Cooperstown’s Jay Grover; Eugene Pederson of Valley City; Ellendale’s Kenneth Retzlaff; and Dale Veselka from Tower City.
Recognized for 15 years of service Burns Bailey from Moffit; Lonnie Eichele of Harvey; Del Houghton of Steele; Jamestown’s Kevin Kubat, and Ellendale’s Jerry Rekow.
Ten-year service awards were presented to Michael Erickson of Edgeley; John Grosgebauer of Gwinner; Kulm’s Doug Hintzman; Justin Houghton from Steele and Thomas Norman of Jamestown.
Five-year active instructors recognized were Jamestown’s David Azure; Kyle Beach of Wimbledon; Jason Carroll of Edgeley; Brendan Ciesynski from Gwinner; Christopher Krenzel of Harvey; Carrington’s Michael Ness; Jim Reuther of Jamestown and Kurt Wagner from Wimbledon.
Recognized for two years of service were Jamestown’s Jon Johnson; Melanie Nelson of Harvey; Bruce Nielsen from Valley City and Kent Schimke of Ellendale.
Conservation education volunteers recognized
Volunteer instructors for North Dakota’s conservation education program were recognized Feb. 9 at the annual banquet held in Bismarck.
Ten-year service awards were presented to Jill Christensen and Jeff Kapaun of Valley City.
Jamestown’s Cliff and Kay Herrick were honored as five-year active instructors.
Recognized for two years of service were Chris Flann of Jamestown and Curtis Goehner of Jamestown.
