Jamestown Fire Department calls:
Feb. 15: 11:22 a.m., ready squad responded to 910 Fifth St. SE (Stutsman County Library) to investigate a strange smell. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: unknown. Time out: 10 minutes.
Feb. 17: 11:40 a.m., fire department responded to 1505 Third St. SE (Roseadele) to a report of a fire in a cooking oven. Fire was out upon arrival of fire units. Cause: cooking. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 30 minutes.
Feb. 17: 6:32 p.m., fire department responded to 814 13th St SE (single-family dwelling) to a report of a structure fire. Firefighters checked the area and investigated. Cause-home owner using legal burn pit. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 20 minutes.
Feb. 18: 9:38 p.m., ready squad responded to 144 Sunnyside Trailer Court (single-family dwelling) to investigate a smoke smell. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: furnace malfunction. Time out: 30 minutes.
Feb. 21: 9:50 a.m., ready squad responded to City of Jamestown Waste Water Plant to monitor the environment and provide back-up while employees did maintenance work on equipment. Time out: 1 hour, 40 minutes.
