ND's Hoeven delivers Republican weekly address

Sen. John Hoeven of North Dakota delivered the weekly Republican address Saturday, calling for President Barack Obama to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Sen. John Hoeven of North Dakota delivered the weekly Republican address Saturday, calling for President Barack Obama to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Hoeven, responding to Obama's weekly radio and Internet address, says the right way to address the deficit and debt and get past the sequester is by creating jobs.

He uses the TransCanada pipeline as an example.

The proposed $7 billion pipeline would carry Canadian crude to the Gulf Coast, and the company has proposed connecting it to the Bakken oil field in Montana and North Dakota.

Hoeven says the project will grow the economy by creating tens of thousands of jobs, helping to keep down the cost of fuel and reducing the nation's dependence on Middle Eastern oil.
