GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The Grand Forks Fire Department says a 40-year-old man who was injured earlier this month in an apartment fire has died.
The Grand Forks Herald reports (http://bit.ly/UUrmY5) that John Rodney Dillon Davis had been hospitalized at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.
On Feb. 9, firefighters found smoke coming from the second floor windows of an apartment on University Avenue. Occupants who evacuated told firefighters of a man still inside, and Davis was carried outside to awaiting paramedics.
Investigators determined that the fire was caused by smoking in a room on the second floor.
The blaze left considerable damage to that floor of the house, which gained some Internet fame when its owners painted it in polka dots in last year.
