Cards roll at Region 4

Blowouts were the theme of the opening round at the Region 4 tournament in Devils Lake.

North Star, Carrington and Four Winds-Minnewaukan won by 20 points or more and St. John took care of Harvey-Wells County in the nightcap.

Jake Hagler had 18 points and Daniel Grande added 14 as second-ranked North Star rolled over New Rockford-Sheyenne.

Josh Edmonson was the lone Rocket in double figures with 10.

Carrington will face North Star in the semis after a 58-38 beating of Munich-Starkweather.

Austin Johnson (16) and Scott Burnham (13) were in double figures for Carrington, which scored 23 first-quarter points.

District 7 champion Four Winds-Minnewaukan pounded down Benson County 64-34.

Hadley Smith had 14 points to lead the Indians. Trayvon McKay added 13 as 13 players scored.

Four Harvey-Wells County players scored in double figures, but it was not enough in a 70-58 loss to St. John.

Andrew Alveshere connected on four 3-pointers en route to 16 points.
