Elkettes discuss run at meeting

The Runnin O’ the Green on March 16 was the main topic as many volunteers are needed for preregistration on March 15 at the Elks. A sign-up sheet was passed around. The Elks men will serve burgers and brats on March 16. Joyce Heinrich is the worker coordinator.
Cele Morud, Kay Meszaros, Ada DeBolt and Loretta Aipperspach were recognized as charter members.
Neumiller moved to donate $4,000 to Camp Grassick for “Giving Hearts Day” as it is the Elkettes’ main fundraising recipient; the motion passed. Another fundraising project in the works is purse hooks depicting the 40th anniversary of Elkettes.
New member Virginia Swan was nominated by Anne Carlsen Center to the Del Carnegie Leadership Program. She announced a “5K run 4 Kids” on May 4 starting at Ave Maria Village. Volunteers are needed for registration. Call 952-5161 for more information. Also she, along with Mandi Ricketts and Rod Johnson, have teamed up with Community Action to provide backpacks to children.
April’s theme is “A Hat Parade.” Members are asked to wear special hats or decorate hats with their own special interests in mind.
Valentine treats were given to members in attendance by Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Jackie Tews won the dinner drawing for March 13.
