Second-ranked North Star and No. 5 Four Winds-Minnewaukan will meet in a dandy for the Region 4 title and trip to state Thursday night.
North Star put the clamps on Carrington in the first semifinal in Devils Lake, while high-scoring Four Winds-Minnewaukan routed St. John in the nightcap.
The Bearcats held Carrington to 17 points after three quarters en route to a 59-37 victory. An 18-4 advantage in the third put it out of reach.
Alex Weston led the Bearcats with 18 points. Jacob Hagler had 15 and Daniel Grande 10.
The Cardinals got nine from Alex Nelson and eight from Austin Johnson.
In the second semi, Four Winds-Minnewaukan hung 20 on the board in the opening frame and 29 more in the second and it was over.
Trayvon McKay led nine Indians offensively with 23 points. Collin Delorme was right behind with 20 points and Austin Longie registered 19. McKay also had three 3-pointers and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Thursday’s finale is set for about an 8 p.m. tip at the Sports Center.
