Arts Conference scheduled: Event includes sessions, presentation of awards to recipients

North Dakota’s biennial Statewide Arts Conference will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck on March 26-27. Artists, arts administrators, arts educators and arts advocates are encouraged to attend.

North Dakota’s biennial Statewide Arts Conference will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck on March 26-27. Artists, arts administrators, arts educators and arts advocates are encouraged to attend.

At the 2013 Statewide Arts Conference attendees will discuss various grants available to communities and organizations through North Dakota Council on the Arts, Arts Midwest and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), in addition to various other opportunities. There will be time for attendees to have private consultations with representatives from the NEA and Arts Midwest throughout the conference, a panel discussion on grant-writing tips and issues, and several other sessions.

Sessions will include an introduction to the rural arts project in Wahpeton, N.D.; a panel discussion by granting agencies (Arts Midwest, National Endowment for the Arts, and local arts councils); information on careers in the arts for individuals with disabilities; introductions to new NDCA staff members and NDCA programs; new ideas to market programs; and more.

Registration for the Statewide Arts Conference is $65, and is due March 20 ($70 after March 20). Mail the registration form along with a check to: Arts North Dakota, Attn: Josh Nichols, P.O. Box 1911, Dickinson, ND 58602. A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck. Participants can call 701-255-6000 and say they are with the North Dakota Council on the Arts to reserve rooms at the state rate of $69.30 a night, plus tax. Rooms are available at this rate on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Also, the North Dakota Governor’s Awards for the Arts Dinner and Awards Ceremony will take place on March 27 at the Radisson Hotel honoring Taylor Barnes of Jamestown and Eddie “King” Johnson of Rolla in the Individual Achievement category; Dr. Thomas Porter of Bismarck in the Arts in Education category; and the North Dakota Art Gallery Association of Minot and the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre of Grand Forks in the Arts Organization category. Reservations are required and tickets are $35.
