Join Detroit Lakes’, Minn. own Summit Productions on Thursday and Friday, March 7 and 8 as it presents Woody Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam” at the Historic Holmes Theatre.

Both days the performance is at 7:30 p.m. This is part of the BTD Community Connections Series. “Play It Again, Sam” is directed by Caitlin Pawlowski and produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., New York City.

Allan Felix, film critic and recently deserted husband, lives in a drab and lonely apartment and has this thing about Humphrey Bogart. Felix is a professional writer of commentary for Film Quarterly magazine and is a movie geek.

Bookish and insecure with women, Allan’s hero Bogey comes to the rescue, with a fantastic bevy of beauties played out in hilarious fantasy sequences. Fixed up by friends (Dick and Linda) with gorgeous women, he’s so awkward that even Bogey’s patience is tried. Allan mostly resembles a disheveled, friendly dog and this is what ultimately charms his best friend’s wife, Linda.

The show was first produced on Broadway in 1969, and has remained popular ever since.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for students and can be purchased online at www.dlccc.org, by calling 218-844-7469, or by visiting the box office at 806 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Next up in the Holmes Theatre line-up is Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theatre’s “Walking, Singing and Other Habits” on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. This show is underwritten by Essentia Health.
