Jamestown College’s Nikki Iverson had an off day at the NAIA national pentathlon on Thursday in Geneva, Ohoi.
Iverson, a sophomore from Jamestown, had no PRs in finishing 16th with a total of 2,762 points. She posted 10.21 (60 hurdles), 4-4.25 (high jump), 28-75 (shot put), 15-10.50 (long jump) and 2:29.51 in the 800 where she placed fourth out of 16 for her top finish.
“Nikki had a tough time today, but kept battling through to the end finished strong with a good 800,” JC coach Jim Clark said. “Nothing seemed to click today — maybe some of it was nerves — but it was a valuable experience and Nikki knows that she can compete here when at the top of her game.”
Briana Vander Woude of Dordt (Iowa) was the pentathlon winner. She was coached in high school by former JC track and baseball dual-sport athlete John Leininger.
