Anti-gun furor continues

Self-defense “expert” and Vice-President Joe Biden is at it again. He was interviewed last week by Parents magazine, and took questions from viewers. When one woman asked if a re-instatement of the 1994 “Assault Weapons Ban” would leave people defenseless, Biden said, “… get a double-barreled 12 gauge shotgun and have shells on hand.”

Biden continued, saying that he and his wife live in a rural part of Delaware (if there is such a place), and he has told her that if anything appears to be threatening she ought to go out onto their deck and fire two shotgun blasts into the air. According to nutty Joe, that would scare away any possible intruders. He declined to mention, of course, that he has full Secret Service protection, stoic-looking guys with semi-automatic handguns and genuine “assault rifles” in their brief cases.

According to personal-protection authority Joe, it is much easier to handle a shotgun than an AR-15 rifle, and one doesn’t need 20 or 30 rounds when two shotshells will do. Biden probably never has fired an AR-15, nor a double-barreled shotgun with a buckshot load. The latter has one hell of a recoil, I can tell you from personal experience, it is certainly lethal, but after two shots you are out of the fight. The AR-15, which fires the .223 round, a cartridge perfectly suited for red fox and prairie dog hunting and home defense, recoils very little.

President Obama now has established Organizing For Action where he is selling access to the White House to promote his anti-gun agenda, among other things. For $500,000 you can enjoy quarterly meetings with the President. This is the same Obama who in 2007 as a U.S. Senator from Illinois, railed against the “big money” in politics. The hypocrisy is stunning!

As I write this, Obama is on a multi-state tour to promote his gun control agenda. He has lots of friends. In Colorado, Democrat Jessie Ulibarri said that Coloradoans should use ball point pens in defending themselves. No, I am not making this up! Another Colorado Democrat named Joe Salazar said that women shouldn’t be allowed to carry concealed firearms because they might misconstrue that they are about to be raped, and may shoot someone who really is not an attacker. (This is the same Democrat Party that wants to see women in front-line combat units. So can women be trusted to handle a firearm or not? Which is it?)

Not to be outdone in the area of idiocy, the University of Colorado, Boulder, in contesting legislation to allow people to carry concealed weapons on campus, issued some remedies for women to employ rather than guns: Tell the attacker that you have a venereal disease, that you are menstruating, vomit (on command, apparently), or urinate. Yeah, I know — it is reprehensible and unbelievable but that is how far the anti-gun fanatics have gone in their rush to implement more gun laws.

Meanwhile, Obama’s Justice Department is prosecuting fewer gun violations than any administration in recent history while it politics for more gun laws. Obama, Biden and anti-gun Democrats euphemistically are calling for a “national data base” that really is a form of gun registration, and the perfect tool for confiscation. If you don’t believe that look to the histories of Germany, China, Cuba, the Soviet Union, Australia and Great Britain.

Even the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has gotten into the anti-gun act: Remember the 1950s videos of children scooting under their desks in preparation for a nuclear attack? People have been chuckling about that nonsense for decades. Well, DHS recently released a video instructing people confronted by an armed attacker to hide beneath their desks. The video describes the difference between cover and concealment, and advises as a last resort to pull scissors out of a drawer to confront an armed attacker. Unbelievable!

We need to remember the brilliant men who wrote the U.S. Constitution, who knew that governments and their faceless bureaucrats who live on power would need to be thwarted — thus, they included the Second Amendment, guaranteeing the right to keep and bear arms.

There is a misconception among many Americans that tyranny cannot ever take place in the U.S., that anyone who thinks so is paranoid. The founding fathers thought differently, and it is something to consider amid this frantic effort by anti-gun legislators to take away our rights.
