Pepsi Cola of Jamestown will have exclusive soda rights at all Jamestown Parks and Recreation facilities for the next five years.

At a special meeting Thursday the Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners was asked to extend the deadline to allow Coca-Cola Bottling Co. West time to get in a competitive bid.

No representative from Coca-Cola was present at the meeting, and the extension was unanimously denied.

The board then unanimously awarded Pepsi with a five-year contract, paying Parks and Recreation $11,250 per year for five years.

Pepsi products will be available at Wilson Arena, Hillcrest Municipal Golf Course, Jack Brown Stadium, Jamestown Municipal Swimming Pool and concession stands owned by Parks and Recreation throughout Jamestown.

Parks and Recreation also will receive 20 percent of all vending machine sales.
