‘Happy Hooligans’ to name Outstanding Airmen of the Year
The North Dakota Air National Guard, known as the “Happy Hooligans,” will recognize the “best of the best” during the 2012 Outstanding Airmen of the Year banquet at 6 p.m. today in Moorhead, Minn. Fifteen airmen were nominated for the award based on their military and civic service during 2012, and the winners will be named during the banquet. Several are from the Jamestown area.

Nominees in the Outstanding Airmen of the Year category include:
*Senior Airman Sophie Miller, of Adrian, N.D., works as a crew chief for the 119th Wing while pursuing a degree in architecture from North Dakota State University
Nominees in the Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer of the Year category are:
*Staff Sgt. Heather Mattson, of Jamestown, works as a unit training manager for the Air Guard while serving the Guard full time in a civilian position as the state’s sexual assault response coordinator.
