Letter to the editor: Girls hockey team second to none at state tournament

The Jamestown girls hockey team was second to none at the North Dakota State Hockey Tournament.

All the players and coach Brad Schaack and his staff deserve a huge tap on the back, not only for their great performance on the ice, but also for their behavior and actions off the ice. Nothing but perfect ladies who were polite, courteous and extremely well mannered.

I have been their team host for the past three years. It has been an honor and a pleasure to be associated with them for that time.

It speaks volumes when one of the players is named Senior Athlete of the Year. Congratulations to Amber Schaack! Also, their coach is runner-up for coach of the year. Not bad. Great job, Brad!

Hockey and athletics are not only about winning and losing. The life skills learned as you play are important for the development of the person, and Jamestown has certainly done a wonderful job in that department.

Good luck to all the girls and their coach.
