A no travel advisory has been issued for the Jamestown and Valley City areas by the North Dakota Department of Transportation. Ice covered streets and roads are making travel dangerous.
The conditions have prompted a number of accidents in Jamestown and the surrounding area, according to scanner radio traffic.
Snowplows in Jamestown will continue to plow snow emergency routes through the morning Monday, according to a press release from the city engineer's office. Snow removal is scheduled to begin in residential areas at 11 a.m. Monday. Work on the downtown area will begin at 11 p.m. Monday.
The DOT has also issued a no travel advisory for the Minot area including the areas of Kenmare, Mohall and Bottineau due to heavy snow with reduced visibility.
Travelers are encouraged to monitor road conditions and carry a winter survival kit in their vehicles.
