Raiders edge Cards for title

Lakota-Adams-Edmore captured the District 7 tournament title, edging Carrington 48-43 Tuesday night in New Rockford. The Raiders outscored the Cardinals 14-7 in the third quarter after leading 25-24 at the intermission.

Lakota-Adams-Edmore captured the District 7 tournament title, edging Carrington 48-43 Tuesday night in New Rockford.

The Raiders outscored the Cardinals 14-7 in the third quarter after leading 25-24 at the intermission.

Fallyn Freije led all scorers in the game with 19 points for the Raiders. Her sister, and Jimmie recruit Ashtin added 14.

Kayla Hochhalter topped Carrington with 16 points. Breana Barton added 10 and Hannah Lipetzky, a Jamestown College track recruit, added nine.

Both teams advance to next week’s Region 4 tournament in Devils Lake.

New Rockford-Sheyenne and Midkota also qualified for regionals.

The Rockets held Four Winds-Minnewaukan to 15 points after three quarters in a 48-34 win.

Rachel Hermanson led a balanced Rocket attack with 10 points.

Dawn Black’s 11 led the Indians.

In the other qualifier, Midkota pulled away late to beat Harvey-Wells County 49-38. The Mustangs led by just one at 31-30 after three.

Shaye Ronningen led the Mustangs with 14 points and Saddie Harding contributed 12.

Alecia Koropatnicki had a team-leading 17 points to pace the Hornets.
