‘Transforming Difficult Child’ workshop scheduled March 16 in Jamestown

Jamestown will be host to a workshop designed to support parents and professionals who deal with challenging child behaviors at home, and in school and child-care settings. “Transforming the Difficult Child: The Nurtured Heart Approach” workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 Fourth Ave. SE, Jamestown.

The Nurtured Heart Approach is a social-emotional strategy that strengthens relationships by the intentional direction of emotional energy. NHA was developed by family therapist Howard Glasser of Tucson, Ariz. Glasser is author of eight books including “Transforming the Difficult Child,” currently the top-selling book on the topic of ADHD and otherwise challenging children.

Workshop presenter Tanya Fraizer is a NHA certified advanced trainer and graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn. She has worked extensively with families and has experience with in-home and agency-based parent education. She owns Heart to Heart Consulting through which she provides coaching, classes, trainings and speaking engagements on the NHA. She also works as the director of outreach andp Relations for the Children’s Success Foundation, the Tucson-based nonprofit organization that works to bring the NHA to communities around the world.

The cost for the workshop is $59 which includes the book “Transforming the Difficult Child.” It is approved for 0.6 hours of continuing education credits and is Growing Futures approved for child care provider training. The class is provided by the Region 6 Parent Resource Center, a program of North Dakota State University Extension Service and Department of Human Services Children and Family Services Division.
