JC women roll in opener at nationals

The 12th-ranked Jamestown College women's basketball team is back in the Sweet 16 for the second straight year.

The 12th-ranked Jamestown College women's basketball team is back in the Sweet 16 for the second straight year.

The Jimmies tied a school record for wins in a season with 27 after beating Menlo College of California 70-54 in opening-round action at the NAIA national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday.

The Jimmies never trailed in the game. Bridget Schuneman scored 19 points in just 15 minutes of action. Kayla Roemmich added 10 points off the bench and Amber Ramlo pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Jimmies face Eastern Oregon (32-2) on Friday at 1:45 p.m. for a spot in the Elite 8.
