Dakota State men win NAIA opener; JC women play at 1:45

The Dakota State men's basketball team and the Jimmie women are the only two teams left from the Dakotas in the NAIA national basketball tournaments.

The Dakota State men's basketball team and the Jimmie women are the only two teams left from the Dakotas in the NAIA national basketball tournaments.

Dakota State upset No. 5-ranked Warner Pacific, Ore., 89-80 late Thursday night in Point Lookout, Mo.

Dakota State (23-9) beat Jamestown College in the A.I.I. championship game here Feb. 24, ralling from a 21-point first-half deficit.

John Lamb led the Trojans with 26 points. They face unseeded St. Thomas Fla., today at 9:15 p.m. in the Sweet 16.

The Jimmie women face Eastern Oregon today at 1:45 p.m. in the Sweet 16 of the women's tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

Eastern Oregon has won 26 straight games.

A win today would put Jamestown College into the Elite 8 for the first time ever and set a new school record for wins in a season (28).

Both Valley City State basketball teams lost its openers on Wednesday. The Mayville State women also lost in the program's first-ever trip to nationals.
