A bad start was too much to overcome for the fourth-ranked Blue Jay girls basketball team on Friday.

Bismarck scored the first 13 points of the game and never trailed in knocking off Jamestown 60-51 in semifinal action of the West Region tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center.

The Blue Jays had not lost since Jan. 31 and had their 10-game winning streak snapped. They also had beaten the Demons twice during the regular season. As a result, they’ll have to win their way into state today when they take on Minot at 11 a.m. The teams split their two regular season meetings.

The Blue Jay boys also lost Friday, 75-36 to Bismarck, ending their season at 3-19.
