Fatal crash closes part of Highway 212

The state Department of Transportation closed U.S. Highway 212 between Montevideo and Granite Falls on Friday due to a fatal multiple-vehicle crash.

WILLMAR, Minn. — The state Department of Transportation closed U.S. Highway 212 between Montevideo and Granite Falls on Friday due to a fatal multiple-vehicle crash.

The crash site was between Yellow Medicine County Roads 5 and 7, said department spokesman T.J. Melcher.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol website, the crash was reported at 11:36 a.m. No information was available about the number of vehicles or number of people involved.

There was no specific detour established around the closure, Melcher said, and no estimate on when the road would reopen.
