Region 3 starts today in Hazelton

The Region 3 girls basketball tournament begins today at 3 p.m. in Hazelton.

Third-ranked Napoleon out of District 5 and Ellendale, the District 5 tournament champion, are the No. 1 seeds.

The Imperials take on Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier in the opening game at 3 p.m., followed by LaMoure-Litchville-Marion taking on Kidder County.

The third game features Ellendale and Central Prairie. The final game has Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock and Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal.

Semifinals begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The tournament concludes Thursday with the third-place game at 6 p.m. with the title tilt to follow.

The Region 3 champion advances to the state tournament March 21-23 at the Fargodome.
