N.D. sheriff resigns for job in oil patch

MANNING, N.D. (AP) — A western North Dakota sheriff said he’s had enough of sitting behind a desk.
Dunn County Sheriff Don Rockvoy said he’s resigning to work as a truck driver in the Oil Patch. He has been sheriff since July 2009.
Rockvoy told the Dickinson Press that he would rather be on the road and said he doesn’t like the way that politics have dominated the job in the last couple of years.
Rockvoy said an increase in crime and traffic accidents in the county since he took over has made it difficult to train and maintain staff.
Dunn County Commissioner Daryl Dukart said Rockvoy did a good job as sheriff and he’s sorry to see him leave.
