JHS Speech Team places at meet

Jamestown High School Speech Team placed second at its March 9 meet at Harvey High School.

Jamestown High School Speech Team placed second at its March 9 meet at Harvey High School.

Anavah Cole, a seventh-grader, placed seventh in Extemporaneous Programmed Reading. In Speech to Entertain, Stephanie Trouba placed sixth and Brittany McIntyre finished fifth. McIntyre also finished sixth is Serious Dramatic Duo with partner Cassie Reidburn. Reidburn also finished sixth in Impromptu Speaking and second in Extemp Speaking. Also placing in Extemp Speaking was Kelsey Becker with a third-place finish; she also placed first with her Speech to Persuade.

Jasmine Glasgow finished third in Radio Broadcasting while Jana Lynch placed eighth. Lynch also finished third in Impromptu Speaking and won Serious Dramatic Duo with partner Morgan Baumgartner. Baumgartner was also named champion in Serious Prose. Mikayla Patel finished in Serious Prose with second, and she finished fifth in Humorous Dramatic Duo with partner Emily Lauinger. Brittney Carpenter placed third in Dramatic, while Hunter Carpenter was named Storytelling champion.

Twenty-three teams competed. JHS Speech Team travels to Bismarck High on Saturday for its next meet.
