Letter to the editor: How will new gun laws affect people who ignore laws?

By: By Gary E. Berube, Mandan, N.D., The Jamestown Sun

A person steals guns (This is against an existing law).

He shoots and kills his mother (This is against an existing law).

He transports loaded guns (This is against an existing law).

He brings guns on to school property (This is against an existing law).

He breaks into the school (This is against an existing law).

He discharges the weapons in city limits (This is against an existing law).

He murders 26 people (This is against an existing law).

The murderer at Sandy Hook Elementary broke every existing law he could to carry out this heinous crime. Would passing another gun law or five or 10 have prevented this crime from happening? He disregarded so many laws currently on the books.

Why would he abide by any new laws? The only people that gun control laws control are law-abiding citizens who want to protect their families from criminals or from a government that wants to police its people.
