‘1 Hit Wonders’ theme of show: Jamesriver Figure Skating Club presenting ice show this weekend

“1 Hit Wonders” is the theme of the 36th annual ice show presented by the Jamesriver Figure Skating Club. The show will be presented in Wilson Arena, in Jamestown, at 7 p.m. Friday, at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The show will be a variety show that will feature songs like “Rockin Robin,” “Purple People Eater,” “Cotton Eye Joe,” “Who Let the Dogs Out,” “She Blinded Me with Science,” “Rubber Ducky,” “Funky Town,” and many more songs.

The production is planned and choreographed by coach Mark Vasarhelyi.

Prior to coming to Jamestown, Vasarhelyi skated for many years as an amateur winning both national and international competitions. After turning professional, he toured with Walt Disney’s World on Ice and has traveled extensively throughout the world performing for audiences. He keeps abreast of the latest techniques.

Elizabeth Sherfy is the producer of the show.

All skaters will be featured in the show with ten members doing solos. A few hockey skaters have been asked to join in and help with one of the numbers on the program.

The event is supported by parents, family and friends of Jamesriver Figure Skating Club who volunteer many hours to see the success of the show.

Show tickets are available from all Jamesriver Figure Skating Club members and also at Country Gardens Floral and Greenhouse. Advance tickets are available for $6 students, $8 adults. Tickets are also available at the door for higher prices.
