Jimmies awarded All-American honors

Jamestown College basketball players Mark Hoge and Hannah Steele were awarded NAIA Division II All-American honors on Wednesday. Hoge, a junior point guard from Ironton, Minn., was named to the men’s All-American second team, while Steele, a junior point guard from Circle Pines, Minn., garnered women’s All-American third team honors.

Hoge, a junior point guard from Ironton, Minn., was named to the men’s All-American second team, while Steele, a junior point guard from Circle Pines, Minn., garnered women’s All-American third team honors.

Hoge led the Jimmie men to the A.I.I Tournament Championship and a second consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2012-13, averaging 18. 5 points (555), 4.6 rebounds (139) and 2.7 assists (82) per game. He was 24th in the NAIA Division II in points per game during his junior year, and has rang up career totals of 1,001 points, 310 rebounds and 174 assists.

Steele led the Jimmie women to the A.I.I Tournament Championship and a second straight NAIA National Tournament Sweet 16, averaging 10.1 points (334), 2.5 rebounds (84) and 4.6 assists (152) per game. Steele was ranked ninth in the NAIA Division II in total assists, No. 21 in free-throw percentage (82.5 percent) and No. 36 in assists/turnover ratio (1.67).

This is the second straight year Steele has achieved All-American status, as she helped the Jimmies tie a school record with 27 wins. Steele has produced career numbers of 935 points, 233 rebounds, 433 assists and 114 steals.
