Finalists picked for Mr. Basketball

Seven players have been selected as finalists for North Dakota Mr. Basketball. The award is given to the state’s top senior each year by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. This year’s award will be presented Saturday following the state Class A boys basketball tournament.

The award is given to the state’s top senior each year by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

This year’s award will be presented Saturday following the state Class A boys basketball tournament.

The finalists (and their season averages) are: A.J. Jacobson, 6-6 forward, Fargo Shanley (26 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocked shots, 3 steals); Nate Mertens, 6-2 guard, Devils Lake (28 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals); Mac Kroeplin, 6-2 guard, Grand Forks Red River (28 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals); Erron Collins, 5-11 guard, Mandan (20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals); Jacob Hagler, 6-2 guard, North Star (23 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals); Jacob Volk, 6-3 guard, Dickinson Trinity (20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals); and Trevor Zacher, 6-5 guard-forward, Beulah (18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals).
