Lecture series returns in VC
The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 15 will present Dr. Andre Delorme speaking on “Freshwater Mussels in the Midwest” March 21. Delorme will speak at 7 p.m. that day at the Barnes County Museum, 315 Central Ave. N, Valley City, N.D.
The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 15 will present Dr. Andre Delorme speaking on “Freshwater Mussels in the Midwest” March 21.
Delorme will speak at 7 p.m. that day at the Barnes County Museum, 315 Central Ave. N, Valley City, N.D.
The talk will be mussels in North Dakota. Delorme will touch on types and distributions, historical records, life history, economic uses (in the past), and future outlook for their overall health.
Delorme has been a professor at Valley City State University for 16 years. He is an aquatic biologist who runs the VCSU macroinvertebrate lab and has done many projects in the rivers of North Dakota including a three-year mussel survey of North Dakota rivers for North Dakota Game and Fish. He is also the director of Prairie Waters Education and Research Center.
The public is welcome. All lectures are at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and held in conjunction with VCSU.
