West Fargo edges Jamestown in opening round of state

BISMARCK - The Jamestown High School girls basketball rallied repeatedly, but couldn't get over the hump in a 71-66 loss to West Fargo in the opening round of the Class A state tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center.

BISMARCK - The Jamestown High School girls basketball rallied repeatedly, but couldn't get over the hump in a 71-66 loss to West Fargo in the opening round of the Class A state tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Kyra Dewald had 14 of her team-high 19 points in the first half. The Jays were able to cut it to one midway through the second half, but struggled to match West Fargo's potent offense.

McKayla Orr and Billie Buchanan had 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Jamestown moves into a loser-out game against Wahpeton at 6 p.m. A win would put them into Saturday's fifth-place game at 9:30 a.m.
