WILLISTON, N.D. — An episode of “American Journey” on HLN with host Ty Pennington will feature Williston and the story of a Washington man who spent a night in a Dumpster while looking for work.

Gregg Thompson, an artist featured in a May Forum News Service story, appears in a preview of the episode that is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. Central today on HLN, formerly CNN Headline News.

Thompson, best known as Gregg Zart for his YouTube videos about Williston, moved to North Dakota in early 2012 after he was laid off from his job as a graphic designer.

Within three days, he got a job at the Williston Walmart, where he still works as a department manager. After a year of living in his van and then two RV parks, Zart recently moved into an apartment in Williston.

“I’ll never take a shower for granted again,” Thompson said.

He began making YouTube videos to document his life for his friends and family, but then he gained a national following.

Thompson said the episode could get preempted on HLN if there is breaking news. But it’s also scheduled to air 7 p.m. Sunday.
