ND tribal official pleads not guilty to charges

A social services official for the Spirit Lake Nation has pleaded not guilty in state district court to charges relating to an alleged domestic dispute.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A social services official for the Spirit Lake Nation has pleaded not guilty in state district court to charges relating to an alleged domestic dispute.

Mark Little Owl is charged with felony theft, misdemeanor simple assault and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the alleged Aug. 21 incident at the Grand Forks apartment of his former wife.

The Grand Forks Herald reports that Judge Sonja Clapp scheduled trial for April 25. Little Owl could face more than six years in prison if convicted.
