Suspended WSI exec running for Legislature

Suspended Workforce Safety and Insurance executive and agency whistle-blower Jim Long is now a candidate for the state Senate.

Suspended Workforce Safety and Insurance executive and agency whistle-blower Jim Long is now a candidate for the state Senate.

The District 14 Democratic-NPL unanimously endorsed Long Sunday at its convention in Wing, N.D.

Long lives outside Bismarck, just inside the western boundary of the large district, which takes in the eastern two-thirds of Burleigh County, all of Wells and Kidder counties and the southern one-third of Sheridan County.

The race would pit Long against incumbent Sen. Jerry Klein, R-Fessenden, who has been in the Senate since 1997.

A prepared statement from the party said Long’s platform will focus on the eradication of corruption in government, specifically the “malaise” currently at WSI, though he said he is not a one-issue candidate.
