Child care providers qualify for food programs

On page C4 of Monday’s Progress Edition, the story “Child care crunch” incorrectly said in-home child care providers do not qualify for food programs. They do qualify for the same program as the public schools — the amount of assistance is dependent upon the income level of the children’s parents. Day care centers do not qualify for the same food program as in-home providers.

Also, to clarify, the assistance Child Resource and Referral requested from the Legislature was in the form of income tax credits for employers who contribute to or support child care programs for dependents of employees.
